One pro-Internet argument may have been overlooked: the boon to political activism. Before, activists had to use phone trees to get the word out about an action or crisis. Now, all it takes is an email list and voila!
Also, there are all the political sites. My favorites are TomPaine.com and Michael Moore's site though there are just as many conservative sites as there are liberal ones. My all time fave, though, has to be "Corporate Consulting for the 21st Century."
In my work as an Instructional Aide, I find several English sites quite invaluable--those that focus on mechanics, grammar and style.
