It didn't tell him about the existence and location of the SHIP, it told him about the TIME MACHINE.

There are still two things I don't understand, though:

1. Does Gordon still get murdured?

2. If Dirk prevented the ghost from discovering the time machine, why is the monk still wandering around Earth at the end of the book?
