Thanks for the reply, I've contacted the sound archives and they are looking for the reference. If I find anything I'll certainly let you know. It was honestly one of the funniest things I have ever heard, in particular the terrible silences following the ever increasing barrage of gunfire. I hope (if I'm lucky enough to track this down) that when hearing it again, reality lives up to the memory.

I saw from another of your correspondants that you collect quotes: I heard this at the paper shop in Birmingham airport:

Lady cashier upon shutting her finger in the till, "Oh bugger!"
Me, "You'll never get to heaven if you say things like that".
Lady cashier, "I don't want to go dear, I wouldn't know anybody"

Its hardly Oscar Wild, but I liked it.
