Subject: Re: Vote Ralph Nader (US) ( 8 of 98 )
Posted by Rary

Mr. Adams, I have to strongly disagree with the idea that a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush. I've been hearing that for a long time, but the simple fact is this: the majority of Americans don't even bother to vote. Why? I would guess that it is most likely because there is no one worth voting for (or at least no one who they feel has a snowball's chance in hell of winning). If even HALF of those people were to say "well, maybe I'm writing off this Nader guy's chances too soon", and went ahead and voted for him (we know they don't want to vote for Gore or Bush; that's why they're non-voters in the first place), then Nader would be a serious opponent. In fact, he would most likely win (since less than half of voters are split between Gore and Bush, therefore less then 1/4 of voters like either one of them). But realistically, Nader has no chance ENTIRELY BECAUSE OF the attitude that "a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush". The truth is, a vote for Nader is a vote for Nader, at least if people would just vote for the candidate they REALLY WANT, rather than the candidate they figure has a chance.

Anyway, I just wanted to point that out, although I'm Canadian, so it's all more or less irrelevant to me. I haven't even decided who I'm voting for in the coming election in my country (expected to be called on Sunday), I just know it sure as hell won't be those Alliance freaks.
