Subject: Albatross Question for you, Sir ... ( 1 of 3 )
Posted by Kate Schechter

I didn't see this already answered anywhere, and I've been thinking about this ... the main reason being I just finished reading "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" for a school project and skimmed "Kubla Khan" (as it was in the same volume), including the bit on Coleridge being interrupted.

My question is ... why Coleridge? My first thought was the lesson in "Rime," lines 614-617 ("He prayeth best, who loveth best all things both great and small ..."), which really reminded me of the environmentalist cause. Or do you just like Coleridge, or albatrosses (albatrossi?), or was the story of why "Kubla Khan" wasn't finished a good jumping-off point for a story?

And see, I even documented my question. A sign of being in too many advance classes. ^_~

Best fishes,
Kate
