The big difference for me at the moment has nothing to do with the actual ISP. At home in London I had ISDN and at the TDV office, of course, we have a direct internet connection.

Here in our rented house in California I'm having to use a modem again, and it's like wading through mud.

Hopefully we should have frame-relay installed before too long, when I can make a fair comparison. (We're just too far from the exchange for ADSL, sadly)
