I remember when I was a kid, I picked up a well-worn copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at the local library and was immediately hooked.

I then picked up the two (at that time) sequels, and read those through as well. After that, each time a book from Douglas Adams was released I was on top of it (including the book he wrote on the Coleco ADAM computer system way back when).

He had an amazing gift, and that gift was transformed into a wonderful radio series, a great television series and someday, I hope, a fantastic movie.

I was very excited at the prospect of a Hitchhiker movie primarily because I heard Douglas Adams was going to be very heavily involved in the development of the script (in fact, I had read somewhere that it was a requirement of his before anyone could make the movie).

That movie has, of course, been oft-delayed and pushed back, but we all knew it would be something special when it came out. Hopefully Disney won't drop the ball at this point.

I want to send my deepest condolences to his family, as I'm sure everyone who's been touched by his works will.

Goodbye for now, Mr. Adams. I'll see you on the Intergalactic.

    Ken Pierce
