I first watched the tv series in about 1981 - then I bought the books. After that I got the records, then the original radio series on tape. I have watched /read / listened to Hitchiker countless times since then. You cheered up my teenage years and made life seem funny when at times it might have seemed bleak. You made me believe five impossible things before breakfast!

I've been on the wagon for the last few days (too many pan-galactic gargle blasters have left me feeling a bit fragile!) but I'm cracking open a bottle of my best wine tonight to toast your memory.

So long Douglas, and thanks for all the laughs.
