Subject: I just heard... HIs work will live on, and hopefully, the projects that he'd been working on will see the light of day soon ( 1 of 1 ) Posted by Brand Echh Wow, I still can't believe it. I was on my way to some volunteer work this morning, and for a change I decided to turn on the tube. I flipped it on CNN, and the first thing they said as I was walking away from it to get breakfast was "Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy..." Immediately I ran back to the set, I had to know what was going on with my favorite work of fiction. I had hoped it was an announcement about the movie, but I had no idea. "was a book written by a man who spent many years scriptwriting for the BBC. Douglas Adams died last night... perhaps best known for his series of Hitchhicker books that spawned a television series... was 49 years old." My god. I didn't believe it. I actually wanted to log on immediately, but I still had my obligations to fulfill (I volunteer at the zoo teaching kids about endangered animals). Man, it's hard to believe... and I didn't realize how young he was. I can't help but wonder about what was left undone. Will his movie, with his script, finally get made, so that we can see Arther and Trillian and company on the big screen? And how about the book(s) he was working on? I'm sure he had notes and half-written pages laying about, perhaps his longtime collaborator, the former Python who helped him with Starship Titanic and such, can finish one last, postumous, Hitchhiker books, as a tribute to the great one. I can only hope. And I hope this site will stay on. I know it was made by a lot of fans and friends, worthing with Douglas, hopefully they will continue without him, keeping it up, up-dating it with the times, and continuing his legacy. |
