Subject: Thank you, old friend ( 1 of 1 ) Posted by Jonathan Tu I have scrolled past the lists of all the hundreds of threads here, today. We all loved you, Mr. Adams. I know no one will read this, but, perhaps, in God's infinite wisdom and sense of humor, you might just one day scan through and pick up the words of Jonathan Tu. Thank you. Thank you, foremost. Thank you, above all. Thank you for the laughter, for the wisdom, for the pages. Thank you for friends undying, for moments forever burnished in memory, for love and life and laughter. Most of all, for the laughter that makes days bright and worth living; most of all, for the wisdom that opens eyes and gives a little more meaning to a meaningless world; most of all, for the pages that I will read, and turn, and touch, forever. I can't think of anyone else - anyone else, and I'm sure that's just not the grief speaking - who was more loved or more cherished than you. There are great writers and great thinkers but for the most part they have their detractors; I have never met one of your detractors. I certainly remember your tractors, though. :) I don't know what to say, sir, because there are so many things here in my breast and they can't escape and these ineffectual words don't allow them to move, to weep, to burst. There are a million things I need to say to you. But in your wisdom, and in the place you rest in now, you know them all I suppose. So. Thank you. For everything. Including the fish. Thank you. |
