Subject: Rest in Peace ( 1 of 1 )
Posted by Samuel Knowlton

We are all at a loss to try and immortalize in a simple tribute a man whose gift and talent with the written word far and away outpace whatever we might say of him.

This is for a man who could take the most serious aspect of life and the human condition and make us laugh at it, while still considering the truth behind the words; for a man whose truth never faltered from approaching any subject, whose invaluable Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy need never leave this planet to be universal in its commentary and never apologetic for its hilarious honesty.

This is for a man who stayed true to his artistic vision, even when it meant keeping creative control of his works and giving up and easy path to riches to maintain the integrity and purity of all that he created.

This is for a man who, on the most basic of levels of communication, taught us that there is nothing at which you cannot laugh, never a moment when you should take anything too seriously. To the inventor of the Babel Fish, the curate of the Towel, and to a legendary wordsmith who is above reproach or critique:

Thank you for everything you have done. May you dwell in our hearts and live on for generations to come in the pages of our grandchildren. Rest in peace, Douglas Adams.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
