Subject: To a Great Member of the Human Race ( 1 of 1 ) Posted by Josh Hyman Douglas Adams is the man who got me started writing. When I first bought his books (all five at once) at age ten, they provided me with over half a year of joy... and then another half, and another, as I read and re-read them. There was something magical in the way his satire caused the greatest hilarity yet never offended... approachable by all, and, surface portrayal of Arthur Dent to the contrary, deeply affectionate for the human race. May we yet return one-tenth of the same, and may he rest in peace, having died one of the greatest contributions to literature and our frame of cultural mind of the twentieth-century.
