I yanked this off Dark Horizons:

'Talk has sprung up again on the film adaption of the Douglas Adams sci-fi/comedy novels. Terry Gilliam (12 Monkeys) is rumoured to be "this close"
to signing onboard as director of the big-budget movie which remains uncast as yet. The most recent gossip on casting had Rupert Everett (Inspector Gadget) and Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting, Hackers) in the roles of Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect respectively. Thanks to "DM".'

While the Gilliam thing is nice, I thought Jay Roach was already set as the director, so I'm not completely sold with this. Mr. Adams, could you please confirm or deny this before too many people are sold on it? Thanks.
