You could of course run LINUX on your Mac, but then again, it might not be worth the trouble. ;-)
I guess LINUX is interesting also because you have to know what is going on within the system, and you are able to control (hopefully) things much more than in a Windows environment. Windows doesn't really like when you start poking around in it's more intimate parts and that is sometimes neccesary in order to make it do what you want it to.
