( 2 of 9 ) Posted by Douglas Adams Like with most things, I don't think I was working to a carefully designed strategy when deciding to pronounce it 'zee' or 'zed'. It probably depended on whether I had been in the States recently or not, whether I felt that the particular character I was doing had more of a British or a US sensibility (for instance, if I was doing Arthur it would definitely be 'zed', if it was Zaphod it would be more liley to be 'zee', and so on. I can also remember, (at least I think I can remember) towards the end of recording one book being uncertain how I'd pronounced it earlier in the book. The producer and I spent lunchtime trying to remember and in the end just made a random guess. <Prev Next>
