Just so I don't step on anybody's toes here - I don't know much about Australia's internal politics and therefore don't have an opinion about exactly *how* Australia goes about becoming a republic, or what sort of republic it should be. I just instinctively sympathise with the view which says that Australians should not be subjects of the British crown. I also feel that in the UK it's time we were citizens rather than subjects.
