So, was his attitude one of "Hey Doug, that's really cool that you decided to use my song?" or did he already know?

Additionally, it is obvious that this song has been reworked several times as a part of hitchhiker. Have all of these been 'legit?'

Just curious because I think it is a magnificent song, and is as much a part of hitchhiker as liberty bell is to Monty Python. I'll chip in a few bucks if it will help retain this tune.
