I'd like to agree that Owen Wilson is quite humorous.
And you're right, space is not British, unless you go by Star Wars, in which case, at least half of it seems to be.
You know what would be a funny cameo? Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as the two cops in near the end who shoot at the gang (if they're going to be in the script). I can imagine an additional line of whining: "I'm to old for this sh**".
