Genesis nowhere says that God is part of creation, but that he created it. The assumption that God is somehow a pantheistic part of creation is necessary in order for the argument about God needing to be created to work. I don't think that it's necessary to assume that. And yes, much of the current thought is that God is the cause of the "singularity" for the "big bang." The crack about worshiping the God's creator was more or less a sarcastic comment to point out that I think God is, and he needs no creator. If he needed to be created, then he wouldn't be God, would he?
