As I see it we have two possibilities. Either we came into existence with no idea what's going on or we came into existence with some idea what's going on. It's certainly more comfortable to believe we were created and given (through the Bible) some idea what's going on. Trouble is I've never had a good reason to believe that any religion was true (and neither has anyone else; they just -think- they have. I've conversed with xtians where I've asked, "so, on Judgement Day Jehovah will ask, 'why didn't you believe?' and I will reply, 'well, I just couldn't make up my mind what was going on, really, I couldn't figure things out...' and Jehovah will say, "tough, off to Hell with you!"? and the xtian will answer, "yep". Astonishing!). Yet the notion that we popped into existence without any word or hint from a Creator is un-thinkable. Then we are in a completely indifferent universe. On the other hand, if there is a Creator, then clearly He is indifferent too (see Judgement Day and the fact that the universe behaves the same way whether you believe in Jehovah or not; namely, indifferent). One thought that is exciting to me: I don't know what is going on but... since we are here that means -something- is going on, I just don't know what. I'm not getting you down at all, am I?
